"The Certificate in Fine Art provides participants a structured path of studio arts study. Contents and practice of that study focus on two-dimensional work, i.e. drawing, painting, photography, and printmaking. With a strong studio foundation in their core area of study and a comprehensive understanding of historical and contemporary practices, certificate students have the possibility of combining traditional media into multi-media, installation, and environmental projects, including video and film as well as socially-based and performance processes."
With attention to the above statement and to our discussions, I have drafted the following outcomes. Please review, revise, and replace as you see fit:
- Proficiency in the fundamental materials, concepts and terminology of one's primary discipline
- Solid understanding of Western art history as well as of contemporary issues and concepts in art
- Ability to create works of art, reflect one's own process of ideation and creation, and to independently maintain an effective studio practice
- Ability to encounter and critique the work of other artists with attention to the origins and the intentions of the work of art and the artist
- Understand the place of one's work in the art market and recognize opportunities for grants, exhibitions, and sales
- Present one's work through presentations, a professional portfolio and artist statement
